Stealing from B3TA
As some of you may have noticed I have, in the past, stolen pictures from the board at b3ta, a little bit. Some may say it is a little naughty of me, or even lazy but so what, its funny.
To put it in to perspective I would like you to consider this example of b3ta theivary:
This picture was posted on the b3ta board in July of 2003.
This product was for sale in BHS in December of 2004.
Makes my petty pilfering look pretty small time don’t it.
Further retro games stuff
While I am on the subject of remakes of old games, here are some more. All games that stick out in my games playing memory.
Skool Daze, klass of 99
This is a remake of the excellent "school sim" Skool Daze. I don’t think I ever actually played this one on the Spectrum at the time, but the sequel, Back to Skool, was the first ever Spectrum game I played.

Barbarian
The game that invented "hack and slash", not to mention, the cover photo was made up of a page 3 girl who’s name escapes me and wolf from the gladiators, classic. This is a remake of the C64 (boo) version.

Beats of Rage
This is a remake of, what is in my opinion, the best scrolling beatem up ever. Me and my brother played the original to death. In this version they have replaced the characters with those from King of Fighters, how interesting.

Warning: this one is a 56k mealting 55Mb
Oi, its my go!!!
Following on the retro theme from the ZX81's 3d monster maze, here is another game that, as I recall, was hooked on as a kid. That doesnt mean to say I was any good at it. Well, when you are sharing a Spectrum with 2 older brothers you can imainge that you dont get much of a chance to practice.
A lot of games on the speccy where hard to complete (its a funny thing back then, competeing a game didint seem to be such a big deal) but this one was next to imposible. So if you do manage it, let me know.
From the days when a game could have only three contorlls (left, right and jump) but still hold your attention for week...
Its from the Spectrum, its Jet Set Willy 2
You can have a go yourlself with this rather nifty and sligtly updated remake for windows.

Chavs, yet again....
Bellow is a comment from a BBC talking point that was discussing grumpy old men and moaning about stuff. One of the things they picked up on was monaing about chavs (somting I have been known to do my self from time to time).
The interesting thing in the comment bellow is what this woman says about chavs,
"As for 'chavs' - that's a media creation and nothing to do with snobbery on the part of the general public"
er...
hang on...
Where does she live, I want to move there!!!
nah, I cant imagine there is a town with no chavs in it, perhaps she is getting them confused with leprechauns or the lock ness monster, lets see if this helps jog the old memory:
Big hoopy ear rings, tracksuits, stupid names, vacant expressions, those special jeans that girls ware to remove any impression of hips (with those stupid boots),parents that feature more then once on the family tree, spitting (all the time), caps (pushed back to show the front little bit of hair), inability to have a private conversation without SHOUTING, inability to complete a sentence without using the words "fack" or "cant", plenty of free time, shortage of intelligence ... ring a bell.
There are many things that have been invented by the media but I can assure you chavs are not one of them (I believe Satan currently holds the patent)
to prove my point, if they are a "media creation" then how does the half price jewellers and TK max stay open???
And what was that about public snobbery, I'm in the public and I am defiantly a snob when it comes to chavs (lets face it, there are people who have been in a prescient vegetative state since birth who can be snobby about chavs). I belive it is the right of any decent human to look down there noses at people that actually prefer to be stupid then clever, people who would rather get some handouts from the state then get a job, its not a class thing, it’s a chav thing.
It also mentions that the article that chavs are “Burberry-clad, young working-class men and women.” Problem… don’t you have a have a job to be working class, they are the “not-working class”
Bellow is the actual comment that has gotten me so hot under the collar.
BBC NEWS | Magazine | Why are we so grumpy?: "It's true - most of us have never had it so good. But it's also true that bad manners are on the increase and more and more 'educated' British people can't speak or write their own language very well. I can't see anything wrong with pointing that out. (As for 'chavs' - that's a media creation and nothing to do with snobbery on the part of the general public.)
Chris B, UK"
Back to the old school
Come to think of it I dont know if I was even in school when I was playing this. This rates as one of the first computer games I ever played, and very impressive it was too (at the time). It had graphics (as apposed to numbers and $ signs moving round the screen), and it was 3D, you can call it a for runner to doom if you like (best you dont though).
It was on the ZX81, it was...
If you feel that way inclined you can have a go yourself on this ZX81 emulator that has it built in!!!
