Argh!! (more yank bashing)
Would you adam and eve it. Good old war "hero" Jessica Lynch. She has returned to her home town to the ususal ticker tape parde normaly reserved for Astronoughts, she is getting her own comemortive post mark. One may think that the people of this town had forgotten that the whole thig was a complete sham. Apparently not:
They care little that Private Lynch's story has had to be rewritten, that the initial tales of her capture and rescue turned out to have been exaggerated.
"She still served her country, she was injured and it makes no difference how it happened," said Melvin Egbert.
(from BBC news story)
They dont even care, how is the world supposed to deal with these people, they will just belive what ever they want to beleve.
Spooky
cider, cheer and aides all come from the same combinaion of button presses on a text message. Somone tell the children!!
Amimal abuse
No wonder the art show that had cows and sheep painted has been closed. it was not becasue of the paint, mor worryingly it was closed becase:
"The animals were removed because the "severe heat and heavy petting" were "causing distress to the animals", a statement said."
Scarry stuff
I know I am doing a log of yank bashing at the moment but when you read this it is not hard to see why. It is a post on the BBC talking point about the death of Samdams two sons:
Getting Saddam's sons is a very significant victory. Saddam is like the big demon with three heads. To finish him US has to cut all of them off or else the terror will keep going on. Americans should not start celebrating just because two heads are gone and one more is left. Things could get very ugly if Saddam feels he has nothing to lose any more and decides to do the worse act of leashing out chemical weapons in a suicide act to inflict maximum damage.

CATS AND DOGS
A dog thinks: Hey, these people I live with feed me, love me, provide me with a nice warm, dry house, pet me, and take good care of me. They must be Gods! A cat thinks: Hey, these people I live with feed me, love me, provide me with a nice warm, dry house, pet me, and take good care of me...I must be a God!

Down with the music industry
Apparenlty in the US they are issueing 75 subpoenas a day for who download music from peer to peer file sharing systems. We all know this is wrong of them to do this, but they do have a point. The music industry has to find a way to deal with this. Luckly I have found a news report that expresis my feelings on the matter pretty well, so you can just read this.
On the subject of patriatism
Phillosiphy on a Friday afternoon.
I have been musing on what it is to be "Patrotic" or "un-patriotic". Due to the war there is an whole lot of stuff on the subject on the web, and lots of it even makes sense. This passage I partuclary liked.
America would do better to pledge allegiance to her Constitution, a set of fairly universal ideals - rather than to a flag which, like a pagan idol, can bear any message a propagandist or dictator loads it with.
Kind of sums the whole thing up for the yanks, they would do well to pay attention to it.
I think the important thig about patriotisam is to remeber what the word means, I belive it is to be insupport of your father land. Not the government or there policies. Basicy the common good of where you come from. Works for me.
If you are ever board at work try searching in google for the word "unpatriotic", fasinating stuff.
as a side note, I also belive that you can be patriotic without thinking where you come from is the best place there is to be.
More stuff on America and war
Have a read of this letter
"How terrible that many of today's young people are as self-centered, unpatriotic, undisciplined and disrespectful. Our great country has been through war many times, and of course, there are always dissents, slackers if you will, but never in my 70 odd years has there been such a blatant group. Rights -- who paid for them? Our fighters' patriots!"
This was sent to some website or other in the states. I realy liked the way that this person was saying "Its our soilders that gave you the right to free speak, now we are at war you shouldnot use it".
Support the Troops
A fraze that was used a lot duing the last war, but what does it acutaly mean? Here is an exelent passage about it.

Not too sure how it is supposed to go right, but I am pretty sure its not supposed to be like this
More Shevaun stuff
I found this paragraph on a discussion forum. Yet another example of the odd view of the world the old Septics have.
I have a question, maybe some UK members or well-traveled members can answer this one for me... Is it standard practice for a 12-year-old to have a passport in England? And is it also standard practice for them to need it to buy a bus pass? Her mother seemed to think nothing was out of the ordinary, is why I ask. Around here, that'd send MAJOR red flags up. But then the only country I live close enough to that I'd visit with any regularity other than my own is Canada, whereas I know countries are much closer together in Europe.
branches of the ugly tree
Now we all know "abducted" 12 year old school girl Shevaun Pennington was ugly, and you may have noticed that her "abductor" Studabaker was also none too pretty, but have you seen his family, Damn. If they had just woken up from 20 year commers I may have been able to forgive them, but, Damn!!
